Drum & Dance Percussion Band and association from Vienna. Inspired by samba reggae, we drum and dance in the street, at festivals and on stage, in Vienna and elsewhere in Austria.
No need to read sheet music. Experience with drums, percussion, another instrument or dance is welcome, but not a requirement. At rehearsal you learn the basic rhythms on surdo, caixa, repinique and dobra, step by step and in time with the whole group. New to music altogether? Once or twice a year we run beginner workshops.
Samba reggae comes from Salvador da Bahia: the deep surdos carry the samba, the reggae offbeat sits on top. We play this groove in Vienna, as an association where everyone has a say.
